
Web Design Process
Shea Media offers full-service, custom website design and development, from initial concept to site launch. Here’s how we do it:
The Process
When you contact us, we will typically respond the same day to go through an initial consultation that identifies your needs and nails down the nitty gritty so we can draft a proposal, which outlines the project, its scope, budget, and timeline.
After the proposal is accepted, we will begin the discovery process. If you don’t already have one, at this point you will need to purchase your site domain and web host. We recommend Bluehost, as it’s a large web host that offers shared servers at affordable prices. Web designers that offer hosting as part of your package end up purchasing and reselling server space from large companies like these, only they increase the hosting fees before reselling it to you. We try to keep the cost to you at a minimum by referring directly to the source.
We will also send you a questionnaire that will go through your branding and identity and other relevant information so we can start designing. We will conduct our own discovery and confer on the direction of the design, and we will submit designs to you within 5-7 business days of receipt of the questionnaire.
We’ll go over the design together and make any tweaks that are necessary. During this time, we will need any content (text and images) you will want on the site. Most clients prefer to maintain control over the text, but copywriting is offered as an add-on. Please let us know if you will need stock photography as well.
Once we get the go-ahead on the final design, we’ll build out the site and integrate all content. We host the beta version on one of our sites so you can go through it and make sure everything is in its place. At that point, final payment is made and the site is launched. We will ensure that you are familiar with the content management system so you can maintain and update the site content. We also provide continued support post-launch.
The Basic Package
When drafting a quote, we assume that your website design package will include the following:
- 1 custom site design: 1 home page design + 1 sub-page design
- 3 revisions to site design
- Search Engine Optimization
- Content Management System
- Blog Implementation
- Contact form
- Integration of social networks: twitter, Facebook, etc.
- Post-launch support
